Managing Partner

David is a highly recognized litigator and registered patent attorney who brings an engineer’s precision to the courtroom.

David represents clients in complex litigation and the protection of their intellectual property. His litigation practice spans a broad range of issues and industries, including shareholder oppression and squeeze-out; patent, trademark, and copyright infringement; trade secret misappropriation; real estate; and contract disputes, with a client base that stretches well beyond Alabama into state and federal courts across the country. As a registered U.S. Patent Attorney, David also advises clients on the full life cycle of their intellectual property — identifying, protecting, and enforcing patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and computer technology rights — giving him a rare ability to handle both the prosecution and the courtroom side of an IP dispute.

That dual perspective traces back to David’s own background: before law school, he earned his B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama, summa cum laude, and brings that technical fluency directly into his handling of patent and technology cases. Since becoming Managing Partner of Loftin Holt in 2020, David has been repeatedly recognized among the top litigators in the state — including three Best Lawyers “Lawyer of the Year” honors in Huntsville for patent and intellectual property litigation — while also serving as President of the Huntsville/Madison County Bar Association and a Board of Bar Commissioners member for the 23rd Judicial Circuit. He brings that same commitment to leadership and preparation to every client he represents.
